Terms of Service

Rules for using Hardwater101. Educational content only—not professional consulting, medical advice, or a substitute for product labels, manuals, or local code.

Last updated: August 3, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of hardwater101.com (the “Site”), operated by Hardwater101. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. The Site

Hardwater101 provides general educational articles, checklists, and tools about residential hard water and home water treatment—symptoms, hardness parameters, softeners, filters, RO, salt, test kits, and sizing estimates. We are not a licensed plumber, engineer, laboratory, medical provider, or municipal utility. Content is for informational purposes for homeowners and DIY readers.

2. Scope of content

The Site focuses on home drinking water and whole-house inlet treatment. It is not pool or spa chemistry (see our sister niche Splash101), not installer “near me” lead generation, and not medical advice. You are responsible for complying with local plumbing codes and licensed work requirements where you live.

3. No professional advice

  • Not personalized consulting. Guides do not create a client relationship. Your water chemistry, plumbing, and equipment brand all change outcomes.
  • Not medical advice. We do not diagnose health conditions or make medical claims about drinking soft or hard water. For health questions, talk to a clinician.
  • Not a substitute for labels or manuals. Always follow equipment manuals, salt and filter product labels, and manufacturer programming guides.
  • Tools are estimates, not engineering stamps. Calculators and converters are starting points. Iron, peak flow, valve type, and install quality change real needs. Cutting mains or altering plumbing may require a licensed plumber.

4. Affiliate links

We may earn commissions from qualifying purchases through affiliate links (including Amazon Associates). See our Affiliate Disclosure. Prices and availability are controlled by the retailer.

5. Intellectual property

Site content, branding, and layout are owned by Hardwater101 or its licensors unless noted. You may not copy substantial portions for commercial use without permission. Fair use and personal reference use of short excerpts with credit is fine.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Abuse, scrape, or attack the Site in ways that harm service for others
  • Misrepresent affiliation with Hardwater101
  • Use the Site to distribute malware or illegal content

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Outcomes of DIY water treatment vary.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hardwater101 is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Site, tools, or linked products—including property damage, water damage, or equipment failure. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using the Site.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hardwater101 from claims arising out of your use of the Site, your plumbing or equipment decisions, or your violation of these Terms.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use means you accept the revised Terms.
